Micro Bikinis
Scandalously tiny, the barely-there micro bikini is an even-smaller version of the thong bikini popularised in the 1970s following the ban of public nudity on California beaches. Also known as a microkini, the micro bikini is typically made from very narrow strips of material that just cover the nipples and crotch area. The segments of a micro bikini are held together with thin bits of fabric, leather strips, rubber or even delicate chains – the idea being to keep the wearer from violating any laws, while still ensuring there’s little left to the imagination.

Micro bikinis are a little harder to come by than many of the more traditional bikinis. Some of the big name fashion designers do make microkinis, but they’re few and far between. Your best bet if you’re interested in a microkini is to seek out specialty swimwear shops or lingerie shops that stock swimwear.
Shopping for a micro bikini online is easy – once you’ve found a style and size that suits you. If you’re unable to find a micro bikini in a shop near you to try, rest assured that many of the online shops selling microkinis have flexible return policies allowing you to send the suit back and swap it for one that you find more flattering. Do be aware of fake designer merchandise, just because someone slaps a Prada label on the suit doesn’t make it the real thing. When it comes to micro bikinis, odds are it isn’t a piece of designer swimwear unless it’s come from an authorised dealer simply because few of the popular designers make microkinis.
